Mid January finally brought some respite from the gloomy weather with a few crisp mornings and proper ice on the pond. I managed to get on with apple tree pruning with my new Christmas present, a long pruner, but standing on the muck heap was the only way to keep my toes from freezing.
The rose pruning is nearly done just because now is when I have the time to try and get the gardens under some sort of control. Deciduous shrubs are shaping up nicely and compost moving continues to build my ‘wheelbarrow ‘ muscles. I overinflated the tyre this week though and had a massive blow out with my heavy load. New tyre sorted, lesson learned!
The early spring continues with Crocus, Narcisssus and Anenome blanda making an appearance.
